Chromovert® Technology
Chromocell’s patented Chromovert technology is distinct in its ability to sift through huge numbers of cells, identifying and isolating rare ones best suited for optimal performance in cell discovery assays. Unlike traditional low-throughput approaches, our automated and high-throughput process makes examination of such large numbers of cells possible, and results in cell platforms poised for successful discovery programs.
Chromovert does this through a process that enables the real-time monitoring of gene expression in living cells. It is based on the specificity of nucleic acid hybridization, and the fluorescent signal that is elicited as part of the process is used as a marker that permits individual rare cells to be isolated and purified. Chromovert technology can track the expression of multiple genes simultaneously, a key strength for isolating cells that express receptors comprised of more than one gene product. The technology enables high-throughput identification (millions of cells can be easily screened) and isolation of cells that express unmodified, native-state receptors. Genetically engineered or naturally occurring native receptors both are amenable to the Chromovert process, giving Chromocell a strong repertoire of high fidelity cell-based discovery platforms.
